Tons of tips for a vacation or a staycation!

Is your brain saying I need to go to the beach or the mountains? Maybe you have something planned and are in need of outfits, packing gear, or ways to destress once you get there. Even if you do not have the funds to take that summer trip these tips are useful. Listed below are 5 internal tips, and many items that are great for the external use.

Starting with the 5 internal tips:

1-Step out of the dress. (situation) If you are at work, at home, or on vacation, stepping away can help clear your mind so that you can calm your body and gain a new perspective. Take a walk, play with your children, or find something beautiful to focus on.

2-Getting away. This could be just taking the day to stay alone at home, or planning a get away with friends and family. Having something to look forward to is so much fun! JUST PLAN IT! Make sure you are creating the atmosphere that you want.

3-Treat yourself. Buy yourself a new dress, a pedicure, or go to a yoga class. Whatever it is that you love to do check in and see if it’s time to treat yourself. Giving yourself little rewards for things can be very uplifting.

4-Brain needs to be emptied out! The best method for this is to buy a notepad and right down every thing in that’s inside that head! Once it’s all out take a look at it. Then prioritize what’s really important to you and start getting it done! Checking things off a list can be really motivating.

5-Learn a new breathing technique. There are many just google it. My favorite is to inhale through the nose filling the belly up with air on an 8 count. Then exhale out the mouth deflating the belly on a 4 count. At the same time visualize your belly as a balloon. Filling up on the inhales and deflating on the exhales.

Do you allow clothes, things, or other people to define how you feel? You have the power to choose that.

Recently, I had to work through that. I woke up at 9am and by 1:00pm I noticed that I had to fight the feeling and thoughts three times already.

First thought came while I was getting dressed for the day. As I put on this black dress that I wore the day we delivered baby Brooklyn, and then find out she was stillborn (dead). From then on every time I looked at the dress I could not even touch it. Much less put it on. Today I put it on and said, that’s ridiculous! I’m not letting a piece of clothing make me feel sad or depressed. As I turned and looked in the mirror I thought oh no wonder I bought it its so CUTE. I had to fight sadness through out the day as the memories from the past flooded my mind. I kept changing it into positives. This dress needs to help me remember in positive ways I keep telling myself, but the visions of that day kept coming. I had to tell my things such as…

“Choose to be happy Dawn! No one wants to be around negativity. Look at all the great things around you. So many blessings have come since Brooklyn past away.” These are the things I would say to myself all day.

I’m proud to say that I did not let my emotions win, and I was able to stay aware and positive throughout the day. But I am gonna let the dress go, and replace it with a new one! It’s not fun having to fight those feelings all day.

I ended my night by reading “Positive Energy” by Judith Orloff. It felt like she was, or the UNIVERSE was speaking directly to me. Listen to she  said…

“Adding to your wardrobe isn’t just a materialistic concern. It can spice up the “vibes you project. Everything you wear gives off subtle energy. As attached as I get to my holey jeans or frayed sweaters, there comes a time when they’re energetically kaput. It’s hard to say good-bye, but they must go. INTERNALLY:

In December 2012 I made a decision that I wanted to be a morning person. I told myself I would wake up each day, happy, by saying today is going to be a great day! I would have to smile and lay there until I felt this way. My husband wakes up singing and so happy every morning. So this should be easy right? Well not when you’ve always woken up very grumpy and not wanting to wake up. I did have a short moment in life where I was this person. When my first son Kenan was born he could do that for me. He would wake me up all hours of the night, and every single time I was excited and happy to wake up. You know as newborns they mainly sleep so when he was awake and active it got me so excited. Over time this went away. I worked very hard on this all last year, and can now say I’m a morning person! It’s actually now my favorite time of the day. We wake up and do family snuggle time and sometimes jam out to music. Everyone is the most energetic and excited! So try it! Wake up, say today is going to be a great or amazing or whatever word you like to start you day with. Then get dressed! This part is important to even if you are a stay at home person. January market I asked our facebook fans what they wanted us to look for and it was all things CHEVRON! From there I was on a hunt. I was a little concerned because the past few times I had went to market I did look and could not find it. This trip was different, because for one that was my mission! Secondly, I found a ton of cute cute chevron items. I found chevron dresses, chevron tops, and an amazing chevron cardigan.

I was already a big chevron fan myself, but after that trip I became a little obsessed over this print. I began to wonder what the history was on it. I can remember my Mom loving the print. She even quilted me a blanket with chevron print while I was in her womb. Look how cute it is!

• The chevron print is also called zig zag. It has a lot of history. The fashion iconic brand Misoni has used it for years and is known for using it. The husband wife team from Italy made it huge in the 70′s. I love this picture I found! When Target did the Misoni collaboration the customers went crazy!! It was a complete fast sell out!

• We all know the Chevron gas station, but have you ever paid attention to their logo?

• In ancient history chevron or zig zag was used as an art form. You would see it on clay pots and rock carvings.

• How about Charlie Brown’s sense of fashion!

• Last but not least, chevron is used in the United States as a symbol for being enlisted in the military and in the police forces. The amount of chevrons describes their rankings.
